Are you ready for the new green mandates?
Effective January 1, 2011, California law requires owners of real estate to disclose their energy consumption to
potential buyers, lenders and tenants. As a representative for your clients, have you prepared for this and what
are the implications of energy disclosure?
Steven Ring of Cushman & Wakefield will share his knowledge on this topic and give attendees an overview of current legislation and legislation that is on the near horizon. Topics will include energy consumption disclosure per AB 1103, pending legislation introduced in San Francisco and other jurisdictions, and a general overview of the future of sustainability in the real estate industry. Ring will outline when energy consumption disclosure is required during a transaction and why preparation is necessary now. Attendees will also gain insight on how this will affect their business and how they should be preparing clients for upcoming legal requirements.
Ring is a Director with Cushman & Wakefield in San Francisco and co-chair of the C & W National Energy & Sustainability Task Force. He has assisted in LEED certifications for over 6 million square feet, including the Gold certification for the Transamerica Pyramid Center. Recently, he was the chair of San Francisco Mayor Newsom’s Task Force on Existing Commercial Buildings which formulated the recent legislation mandating energy benchmarking disclosure and energy audits within San Francisco
